East african business news: The East African Common Market protocol which is scheduled to come into effect next week maybe hampered by the slow pace of legal reforms within the region. Key laws that will require amendment include labour laws and revenue collection policies. The East African Community secretariat is calling upon regional governments to amend labour laws to enable the movement of trained labour across the region. EAC Secretary General Juma Mwapachu says the region stands to gain immensely from the common market protocol which will enable the free movement of persons, services and capital within the region.
