East african business news: The fate of petrol prices in the country now lies in the hands of the attorney general, after the ministry of energy submitted plans of price caps to the state law office for clearance to introduce the same. Assistant minister of energy Langat Magerer says all that is required for the ministry to announce fuel price caps is confirmation from the AG that the move is constitutional. In the meantime leading oil marketer Kenol Kobil has announced a 4 to 5 shilling price cut to have its fuel retail at 98 shillings a litre. NTV Kenya business news.

African business news: VENTURE to Prospect Rd on a Friday night and you might feel like you’ve landed in Africa.

The sounds, food, clothing and crafts of the continent are being celebrated each weekend at the African Twilight Markets.

African Community Organisation of SA president David Malinda said the markets celebrated the diverse culture and traditions of a range of countries, including Sudan, Eritrea, South Africa and Burundi. “The market encourages cultural inclusion and acts as a meeting place for different people and cultures,” he said.

Among stallholders is Abdullah Teia, of Ferryden Park, who aims to educate locals about Sudanese culture through his artwork.

“Once people can understand who we are, there will be harmony and respect,” he said.

Mr Teia, also the project’s marketing manager, sells paintings and gourd plants, which he decorates with African designs and beads. The plants, which look similar to pumpkins, are hollowed out and used for decoration and to store food and water.

A World Bank report found that a potential investor only has a 20 per cent chance of getting a response, when he or she calls an investment promotion agency in sub-Saharan Africa.
